Mitsubishi Chemical Carbon Fiber and Composites (MCCFC) is composed of several companies, but at its core there are two. In April 2013, two California Companies, Grafil, a carbon fiber manufacturer in Sacramento and Newport Adhesives and Composites, a prepreg manufacturer in Irvine, were merged to create Mitsubishi Rayon Carbon Fiber and Composites (MRCFAC); then in 2017, we re-branded to MCCFC. Since our merge, we have made multiple acquisitions within the United States. In addition to these acquisitions, we have continued to improve and expand our current facility’s capabilities. We are a company with a dedicated focus on responsiveness, quality, and customer support, we are working hard to match the growing global and domestic demand for these advanced materials.
Entry level, In-Process/QC Inspector (3). Performs resin content and fiber area weight testing of in-process Unitape composite production operations, including opening and closing work orders. Performs viscosity testing to validate mix room output. Performs primary inspection functions on all products manufactured on the Adhesive, Woven and Unitape processing lines. Maintain full traceability of product from raw material to finished products for all samples collected, tested, retained. Maintains QC retained sample in 40° or 0° box storage. Compiles and records test data utilizing an electronic database. Records test information on appropriate production quality records and other production documents as required. Alerts appropriate personnel when nonconforming results or nonconforming conditions or raw materials are discovered.
- Obtain in-process or other production samples from production campaigns for retains or in-process testing. Conducts resin content and fiber area weight tests in a timely manner in order to support Unitape production operations and schedules.
- Open and close Adhesive, Woven, and Unitape work orders.
- Perform viscosity test to support mixing operations. Maintain viscometer database. Transfer viscometer test data into resin mix work order.
- Maintain QC Retain samples in 40° or 0° box storage.
- Verify VMP, paperwork PCC, MSC, run conditions, calibration status of equipment and raw material expiration dates prior to starting production campaigns.
- Perform proper and effective testing and inspection per product and Work Order requirement.
- Follow all coordinated test plans using proper test methodology and techniques. Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Demonstrate a very high level of precision in testing. Maintain lot traceability identification in all materials, records, WIP, raw materials, sample retains, etc.
- Compile generated test data. Completes appropriate quality records, forms and electronic database entry utilizing ERP.
- Identify and label non-conforming material at the production line as well as any in-process non-conformities. Takes initiative to communicate non-conforming processes, non-conforming data, non-conforming raw materials and testing failures immediately with operators and with Quality Control and Quality Assurance. Contacts other departments as necessary such as manufacturing and engineering when product or equipment does not conform or perform to requirements.
- Provide support to operation to diagnose the root cause of surface defects on all products manufactured on the Adhesive, Woven, and Unitape processing line.
- Work under supervision of production supervisors or production manager when the QC supervisor is not on site.
- Perform job duties in accordance with company procedures. Ensure process conformity (running product within specified run parameters). Places non-conforming raw materials, products or process conditions on DMR.
- Follow safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe working environment. Utilizes PPE as required.
- Exhibit exemplary conduct at all times in dealing with other MCCFC employees including any outside contacts. Contributes to a team-oriented environment.

Education/Experience: A minimum of a high-school diploma or GED is required.
Work Experience: A minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in composites manufacturing and procedures, or an equivalent combination of experience and/or training.
Math Skills: Must have ability to calculate, subtract, sum, average, fraction and percentage. Understand addition, subtraction, division. multiplication and percentage.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities for performance of job: Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel are required. Multi languages are a plus.
- The salary range for this position is $21.50 - $25.00 per hour. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
